PhilDev held a series of roadshows across the country to launch PhilDev Labs. PhilDev Labs is the hub of innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives by PhilDev. It strengthens the ecosystem of startup enterprises by nurturing viable ideas, strengthening their social impact, realizing their technology component to help them scale, and mentoring them to be sustainable. PhilDev Labs is part of the entrepreneurship pillar of PhilDev and houses various programs that support startups. This includes the Accelerator Program under the Innovation for Social Impact Project (ISIP) that PhilDev is co-leading with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with support from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade – Australia (DFAT Australia).
The roadshow covered three (3) key cities in the country: Baguio, Davao, and Cebu. A total of 230 participants attended the event from various locations nationwide. The events were held in partnership with PhilDev’s TechHub university networks from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Participating universities who also hosted the roadshow include Saint Louis University in Baguio City, Ateneo de Davao University in Davao City, and the University of San Carlos in Cebu City.
“Within our own university, we have several promising innovations and this kind of program from PhilDev, UNDP, and DFAT-Australia becomes an opportunity for local startups to build their network and strengthen the community we have.” said Prof. Christine Marie Gohetia, Public Relations of University of San Carlos and Program Manager at USC TechHub.
The PhilDev Labs Roadshow ran from April to May and is expected to conclude with its last stop in Metro Manila by the end of May. Various Manila-based startups and social enterprises are expected to participate in the event.
